RM-LO Series · Sponge-Pad Configuration
Stone Vacuum Lifter, Sponge Pad Configuration
The same battery-powered RM-LO chassis used across our glass lifters, fitted with rectangular EPDM foam sponge pads instead of round silicone pads — built to hold a seal on rough, unpolished, and lightly porous stone that a smooth silicone cup can't grip reliably.
Why Sponge, Not Silicone
Rough stone needs a pad that compresses, not one that just seals
A round silicone pad works by pressing flat against a smooth, non-porous surface and forming an airtight edge. On textured or lightly porous stone, that same pad can't conform to the surface — microscopic gaps let air in and the seal fails. The rectangular EPDM sponge pad solves this by compressing into the surface's bumps and valleys, and its larger contact area helps offset the slight air leakage that porous stone allows.
Rectangular EPDM Sponge Pad
High-density foam rubber with a compressible border that conforms to surface texture.
- Rough / flamed / bush-hammered granite
- Unpolished marble, sandstone, limestone, slate
- Lightly porous surfaces (plywood, OSB, solid timber)
- Arranged in frames of 4, 6, 8+ pads depending on load and slab size
Round Silicone Pad
Smooth flexible rim that seals against non-porous, smooth surfaces.
- Glass, sheet metal, polished stone
- Fails to seal on textured or porous surfaces
- This is the pad type used on our standard RMLO glass-lifter listings
Exact sponge pad dimensions and per-model pad count are configured per order based on your slab size and finish — ask us to confirm the layout for your heaviest regular load before ordering.

Materials
Where sponge pads are the right call
Granite
Flamed, bush-hammered, or otherwise textured finishes.
Marble
Unpolished or honed surfaces where a silicone cup won't hold.
Sandstone
Naturally porous — sponge pads help maintain a working seal.
Limestone
Similar porosity profile to sandstone.
Slate
Riven or textured surfaces common in roofing/cladding slabs.
Engineered Stone
Textured/matte finishes on quartz and composite slabs.
For polished stone or glass, our standard round silicone pad configuration is the better fit — see the rest of our RM-LO range.
FAQ
Common questions about the sponge-pad configuration
What's the difference between this and your standard RM-LO glass lifter?
Only the suction pads. This uses rectangular EPDM sponge pads instead of round silicone pads — the chassis, motors, battery, and hydraulics are the same RM-LO platform at each capacity.
Can sponge pads lift glass too?
They're built for texture and light porosity, not for glass. For glass or polished stone, the round silicone pad configuration seals more reliably and is the better choice.
How many sponge pads does my order need?
Depends on your slab weight, size, and surface texture — frames of 4, 6, 8 or more pads are available. Tell us your material, typical slab dimensions, and heaviest regular load and we'll confirm the pad layout.
Does it need an air compressor or shop power?
No. A maintenance-free battery pack runs the vacuum pump, lift motor, and drive system on every RM-LO model in this range.
Working with rough or unpolished stone?
Tell us your material, slab size, and heaviest regular load — we'll confirm the right capacity and sponge pad layout for your job.
